THERAPY FOR CHILDREN & TEENS
Meeting Your Child's Needs Through Family Support
I specialize in creating safe spaces for the unique and valuable expressions of children and teens. What is a safe space and why is a safe space important for a young person? A safe space is an environment and a feeling that is created that does not harm, judge, or criticize. Everyone is worthy of being in safe spaces. For children in art therapy this may look like creating a comic strip to communicate through metaphor. For an adolescent, this may look like reading music lyrics together in order to create new meaning to what they enjoy listening.
As a trauma informed and resilience based practitioner, I give the time and care needed for a young person to sift through the layers of experiences, thoughts, and feelings. In the process, new language and resolve can be achieved. The use of art in therapy has been one of the best tools I have used to connect with children. It is supportive of their expression and it opens a window to who they are.

I take great pleasure in inviting parents to sessions or treating the family as a whole in support of a child's well being and positive development. Children are the next generation to be in leadership. We must be their allies in creating generations of healthier, resilient, and empowered communities. Children will teach us the way forward.
